The Supreme Court on Tuesday said it would have wider ramifications if the Centre decides not to abide by its solemn sovereign assurance given to the Portugal government at the time of gangster Abu Salem’s extradition the maximum sentence to him will not exceed 25 years and that such a decision would hamper extradition of other fugitives being pursued by the government from other countries.
