New governors appointed in 5 states

In a reshuffle, the President announced new governors for 5 states in the country. Kalraj Mishra has been transferred from Himachal Pradesh to Rajasthan. Bhagat Singh Koshyari has been appointed the new Governor of Maharashtra. In Kerala, Arif Mohammed Khan replaces P. Sathasivam. Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan has been made the new governor of Telangana.

The number of cases of frauds reported by banks saw a jump of 15 per cent year-on-year basis in 2018-19, with the amount involved increasing by 73.8 per cent in the year, RBI's annual report showed. Cabinet eases FDI rules for single brand retail

The govt has relaxed FDI rule for foreign single brand retailers and also permitted foreign investment in contract manufacturing and coal mining. On FDI in single brand retailing, the Cabinet has expanded the definition of mandatory 30% domestic sourcing norm. Commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said 100% FDI under automatic route in coal mining and associated infrastructure has been approved.
