The special election observer for Bengal, Ajay Nayak, compared the law and situation in Bengal to that of Bihar 15 years back and said people had lost faith in the police force. The sharp criticism came on the day the Election Commission removed Malda SP Arnab Ghosh, the sixth police officer in the state to be taken off poll duty.
