US dream shattered: Indians recall nights in forests, food in camps

Spending nights in forests, tripping over corpses and surviving without adequate food in refugee camps, after they spent lakhs of rupees to chase their US dream, was the common ordeal for over 300 Indians who landed here on Friday after being deported by the Mexican immigration authorities.

Lost 5 kg in jail, suffered two bouts of illness: Chidambaram to SC

A bench of justices R Banumathi, A S Bopanna and Hrishikesh Roy was told by Chidambaram's lawyer Kapil Sibal that "during his 43 days in jail, he had suffered two bouts of illness for five and seven days respectively and was administered antibiotics". "He has lost weight from 73.5 kg to 68.5 kg," the senior advocate told the court.

Nadeem included in India squad for Ranchi Test

The world's first female spacewalking team made history high above Earth on Friday, floating out of the International Space Station to fix a broken part of the power network. As Nasa astronauts Christina Koch and Jessica Meir emerged one by one, it marked the first time in a half-century of spacewalking that a woman floated out without a male crewmate.

US dream shattered, 311 Indians deported by Mexico arrive in Delhi

More than 300 Indians, including one woman, who were deported by Mexican immigration authorities for illegally entering the country to sneak into the US, landed here on Friday morning, their American dream of a better life and jobs in the US shattered. The 311 Indians were sent back to India on a chartered flight and were accompanied by 74 Mexican officials, officials said.

Chidambaram's presence enough to intimidate witnesses: CBI to SC

The Supreme Court on Friday reserved verdict on former finance minister P Chidambaram's plea against Delhi high court order denying him bail in the INX Media corruption case. CBI said that 'mere presence' of Chidambaram was enough to intimidate witnesses and therefore he should not be given bail at least till material witnesses are examined.
